Donor Selman A. Waksman PH.D.
The Waksman Foundation for Microbiology is a private, charitable organization, established in 1951. Its purpose, as expressed in its Certificate of Incorporation is "to promote, encourage, and aid scientific research in microbiology; to provide and assist in providing the funds and facilities by which scientific discoveries, inventions, and processes in microbiology may be developed...all to the end that the science of microbiology shall progress in the service of mankind."
The Foundation today supports research and education in the general field of microbiology, including medical disciplines, agricultural and soil microbiology, marine microbiology, and the diverse environmental interactions of microbes.
